Does Gourmet Decaf Coffee Taste As Good As the Original?

20 October 2009 // Filed under Decaf

When you take the caffeine out of the coffee bean you will loose some flavor. However this kind of coffee is quite useful for people who are sensitive to caffeine and also pregnant women who are advised against taking in too much caffeine.

Decaffeinating the coffee is usually done using a chemical agent like methyl chloride or charcoal and water (the Swiss water treatment). Some people find the usage of the chemical methyl chloride rather worrisome and are thus content with charcoal and water as a more natural way of treating the coffee.

When you are dealing with decaffeinated coffee it is necessary to get really good quality green beans so that even with the caffeine gone your taste buds can be rewarded, so be prepared to shell out some extra for those premium beans.

Decaffeinated coffee still has caffeine though. Experts say that drinking 4 to 5 cups of decaffeinated gourmet coffee can provide the same level of caffeine that 2 cups of regular coffee will.

Gourmet decaf coffee is a special brand of coffee which can be quite a good thing for the discerning coffee drinker who does not want to compromise on the quality of the drink but is also sensitive to some of the effects of caffeine.

If you are a heavy gourmet coffee drinker and have been asked by your doctor to lower the intake of caffeine then gourmet decaf coffee can be the place to start. However be advised that drinking too much of coffee is inevitable bad for you, as is basically anything else.

Gourmet decaf coffee although not as enjoyable as the regular gourmet coffee is still quite a thing to taste!
